Letting the Body Lead:
Experiencing Healing through Movement Improvisation
Explore the creative and healing power of spontaneous movement.
Learn to listen closely to yourself and follow your bodys
desire to move or be still, from moment to moment. Practice
watching others move with a Compassionate Eye, and allowing
others to watch you, all in a safe and relaxed atmosphere. Within
a gentle structure of guided imagery and improvisation, learn
healing methods and skills that you can practice on your own,
such as Repetitive-Movement Trance, Climbing Out on the Voice,
Remote Self-Healing and Body as Mask. This class is focused
on experiencing movement, rather than "performing"
- no previous dance experience is necessary.
Inner Listening: Hearing your Body so you can Heal your
Self. A workshop on self-awareness for people in the helping
professions.
In the helping professions, it's easy to push aside
our emotions or ignore important messages from our bodies, especially
when we're eager to benefit the lives of others through
our professional work. In this workshop, learn how to listen
on a deeper level to your feelings and sensations so they can
guide you toward greater health and wholeness. Become aware
of how your beliefs regarding professional roles, boundaries,
and integrity can affect your energetic, physical, and emotional
health. This workshop includes guided imagery, meditations,
and other experiential exercises, as well as printed information
and resources. Recommended for counselors, social workers, caregivers
and those who work in social service agencies or organizations.
The Language of Touch: A workshop in nonverbal communication
for couples.
This workshop is for couples who wish to explore gentle, non-sexual
touch as an avenue to opening up intimacy and emotional/spiritual
healing in their relationship. You will learn and practice simple
hands-on healing techniques and experience guided imagery that
will teach you to communicate intimately through your hearts,
hands, and minds. Learn to listen to and trust your sensations
and intuition. We will also spend time talking about how to
communicate honestly and compassionately with your partner:
how to ask for what you need, how to give feedback about your
experiences of touch, and how to create a space in your lives
for this exchange to happen on a regular basis. Activity portions
of the workshop are accompanied by beautiful acoustic guitar
music.
